Have you ever said to yourself, "Next year is definitely the year I start getting in shape . . . start writing that book . . . start (or finish) that project in the garage"? Whether it is writing an employee review, going to the dentist or cleaning the bathroom, the less appealing tasks tend to make their way to the bottom of our "to do" list.
Of course we always seem to find the time for the more appealing projects. If you recognize yourself in this "dessert first" approach, try to incorporate at least one task per day as the first thing you choose to get accomplished.
What do you think would happen if you started and completed everything that you were intending to do? Would you be the same person that you are now? Would you have the same life? How much opportunity would you be creating for yourself if you completed 50% to 75% of what you intended to accomplish?
Two of the most important components of having a Do It Now attitude are the motivation to take the first step, coupled with a strategic plan to keep you moving forward, regardless of what distractions might develop.
Decide today to do something that you have been putting off. Develop the Do It Now habit right now!
